SPEAG’s SEMCAD X 5G Toolkit Gets Tested for Phased-Array Antenna Design and Optimization

SPEAG offers a comprehensive portfolio of hardware and software solutions to support the design and compliance testing of transmitters developed for emerging 5G technologies. With the latest software update of the 5G Toolkit, our simulation platform SEMCAD X Matterhorn V17.0 now provides the most efficient solution for design, analysis, and optimization of 5G mm-wave antenna arrays. Alex Chou, Head of the Auden-Advanced Research Center, has put the SEMCAD X 5G Toolkit to the test and successfully demonstrated how it empowers engineers to develop phased-array antennas in short time and to meet demanding performance requirements, including regulatory compliance.

Watch this recent user video which demonstrates the phased-array antenna design workflow by exploiting the following striking features of the new SEMCAD X 5G Toolkit:

  • Template-based tools for modeling of phased-array antennas
  • Array Factor approximation
  • Beam Steering tool
  • MaxGain algorithm to compute the best achievable performance in each spatial direction
  • Compliance evaluations based on surface-averaged power density calculations
  • Worst-case power density (highest power density reachable by an antenna array) calculations with the new SEMCAD X Optimiser

In this video, an industrial power-user demonstrates how the 5G toolkit allows to boost the development process of  phased-array antennas.
