SAM head phantom V4.6 with Broadband head Simulating gel and lossy Ears

Lightweight homogeneous anthropomorphic head phantom filled with a broadband head tissue simulating gel with lossy ears and ear canal for evaluating the OTA performance of mobile phones, wireless ear-worn devices, smart glasses/goggles, new generation virtual reality (VR) headsets and other face- and head-worn devices

Application

Assessment of radiation pattern or total radiated power of mobile phones in talk mode in combination with a hand phantom or in head only mode

Assessment of radiation pattern or total radiated power of antennas mounted on or close to the ears, nose, face or head

Redesigned smooth outer shell to better fitting of devices

Compliance

Geometry compliant with SAM data as defined by IEEE SCC34 and 3GPP TR25.914 "Measurements of Radio Performances for UMTS Terminals in Speech Mode" Release 6 and CTIA Certification Standard “Test Plan for Wireless Device Over-the-Air Performance” Revisions 3.0 to 3.6 (June 2016) from 300MHz - 6 GHz

Construction

Phantom Shell:

high precision shell made of low-loss plastic (dielectric constant < 5.0, loss-tangent < 0.05), thickness: 2 ± 0.2 mm, integrated positioning lines, sealed top cap

 

Gel filling:

dielectric parameters compliant with head simulating media;  5.9 liters (7.2 kg) of gel, stable for a minimum of 3 years if kept sealed and in temperature range 22 ± 5 °C  

 

Mounting on a Turntable:

8mm holes in a plane 210mm wide x 174mm deep 

 

Ears:

manufactured from a silicon- and carbon-based mixture (color: black) with dielectric parameters compliant with hand simulating media

Frequency Range

Gel filling: 0.3 - 6 GHz

Ears: 0.3 - 3 GHz (SAM-V4.6BSE) and 3 - 6 GHz (SAM-V4.6BS3TO6E)

Compatibilities

Compatible with all SPEAG's SHO- and SHO3TO6- hand phantoms designed for talk mode testing using fixtures SHO-FTMV1/SHO-FTMV2 

Compatible with phone positioner SAM-PPV1
