DASY8 HAC detail

DASY8 Module HAC (Hearing Aid Compatibility) is composed of hardware and software components optimized to demonstrate the compliance of wireless devices according to ANSI-C63.19-2019. The solution comprises the Radiofrequency (RF) Extension for RF emission tests and the Tele-Coil (T-COIL) Extension for audio-band magnetic tests.

Both extensions are required to fully characterize wireless devices according to the ANSI-C63.19-2019 standard.

System

The RF Extension enables measurements of the electric (E-) field generated by wireless communication devices around their audio acoustic output. It is composed of an isotropic E-field probe (i.e., EF3DVx) mounted to the precision TX2 robot allowing to scan the field over a user-defined area. The probes are miniaturized, sensitive, isotopic, linear, and stable. The spatial precision of the probe position during scanning is better than 0.2 mm. A Test Arch enables easy and repeatable positioning of the device to be tested. The E-field averaged over the measurement area is provided as requested by the ANSI-C63.19-2019. 

The T-COIL Extension adds the capability of audio band magnetic (ABM) measurements according to ANSI-C63.19-2019. It is composed of an audio magnetic field probe (i.e., AM1DVx) mounted to the precision TX2 robot, a Helmholtz calibration coil (i.e., AMCC), and an audio magnetic measurement instrument (i.e., AMMI). This extension is used to determine the quality of the audio band magnetic field originating from the wireless devices. Jupyter Notebook based graphical user interfaces (GUIs) guide the user through the compliance workflow.

Basic Components

The basic components of DASY8 Module HAC are:

Probes EF3DVx – Isotropic E-field probe for general near-field measurements. Different versions cover frequencies from 300 MHz up to 6 GHz. Sensors, small dipoles, are oriented in a Cartesian coordinate system that provides both field components as well as total field value with the highest precision.
  • Frequency range: 300 MHz – 6 GHz
  • Dynamic range: 2 V/m – >1000 V/m
  • Tip diameter: 3.9 mm
AM1DVx – Active single sensor probe for audio band magnetic field measurement scans; fully RF shielded
  • Frequency range: < 100 Hz – > 10 kHz
  • Dynamic range at 1 kHz (AM1DV2): -69 – +20 dB A/m
  • Dynamic range at 1 kHz (AM1DV3): -60 – +40 dB A/m
Phantoms

HAC Arch – Enables easy and well-defined positioning of the phone and validation dipoles as well as simple teaching of the robot; its dimensions are 370 × 370 × 370 mm. Teaching of the AMCC position is also done with the Arch phantom.

UniPV1 – The Universal Phantom V1 is a flat plate of 100 x 50 cm used as a test bed table. It occupies a full DASY8 platform slot. The HAC Arch is typically placed on the UniPV1 table.

Accessories

MAIA – Modulation analysis interface to validate the communication settings of the wireless device signal; enables the determination of the linearization parameters.

Mounting Devices

MD4HACV5 – In combination with the HAC Arch Phantom, the mounting device for HAC testing enables accurate positioning of transmitters.
